3 Business Tips for Self-Employed Success: Consistency, No Hard Sales, and Follow Up

Updated: Nov 14, 2023

A Richard Branson quote

Launching your own business is an exciting and rewarding experience, but it can also be challenging. There's so much to learn and do, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

Here are three tips that I've found to be invaluable in my own self-employed journey:

Be consistent-

This is something I have always struggled with (in fitness... Cough) however I have had to work on this as it applies to so much when you go self-employed. Consistency is key in any business, but it's especially important when you're self-employed. You need to be consistent with your work ethic, your content creation, and your social media marketing.

Even if you can only spare a few hours each day, make sure you're working on your business. This will help you build momentum and achieve your goals faster.

No hard sales-

When you're first starting out, it's tempting to try to sell your services to anyone and everyone. But it's important to focus on building relationships and providing value first.

Instead of trying to make a hard sale, take the time to get to know your potential clients. Ask them about their business needs and goals, and offer tips on how you can help them achieve those goals.

Once you've built trust and rapport, your potential clients will be more likely to hire you.

Follow up-

It's important to follow up with potential clients and previous clients regularly. This shows that you're interested in their business and that you're serious about providing them with value.

You can follow up with a quick email, a phone call, or even a handwritten note. Just make sure that your follow-up is genuine and helpful.

What would you add to this list? Is there anything that you have learnt that has been of great value to you and the way you run your business?
